WAWMN Partner Goal Meeting.jpg

The City of Rochester applied to the Minnesota Humanities Center to host the We are Water MN traveling exhibit in June 2019.  When the City team learned that Rochester had been selected, a partnership group was established with over 30 partners in and around the Zumbro Watershed.  Our partner group gathered in February 2020 and established our goals for welcoming the traveling exhibit to our community:

  • Build awareness and increase understanding of water

  • Deepen community connections with water

  • Empower people to affect change

  • Broaden opportunities for partnerships

For over a year, partners have met virtually to prepare for the exhibit's arrival, create local companion exhibits, and plan water-themed events.

While the pandemic presented many challenges, partners built relationships and supported each other's ideas and efforts.  Our hope is to connect with our communities using water as a lens and we invite you to engage with us through stories, exhibits, and events.

The photo included is from our partner meeting in February 2020 before the pandemic arrived in Minnesota.  It was the only partner meeting we held in-person.
